Anahata, the heart chakra, is, or at least should be, always in the house. The center of compassion and love and driven and fueled by both the giving and the receiving of compassion, forgiveness and love. And I think that’s where so many of us can struggle. For many, it seems that it’s not that difficult to give love, to share their heart and their compassion. And although it may seem hard at times, forgiveness can be brought forth also. But I think more of us actually struggle with receiving love. And that is often a case of self worth, self esteem. We can struggle with thoughts, feelings and beliefs that we are not really worthy of being loved. Of being forgiven. Of receiving another soul’s compassion. And that’s where a little awareness and work on that fourth chakra can really help.
In his book, “Meditation As Medicine”, Dharma Singh Khals, M.D. describes the physical effects of an imbalance in the heart chakra as problems appearing in the cardiovascular system and lungs. And he warns that immune dysfunction can occur because the thymus is located in the fourth chakra.
Here’s some links to chakra related things for those so inclined to explore them. And no, I don’t get paid to shill books, lol. I’ve found both of these books to be excellent sources of understanding and enlightenment on the subject of Anahata and it’s friends.
And for those seeking a little focus for their Anahata meditations or yoga practice, or perhaps a little color therapy…
Here’s “Anahata: The Fourth Chakra”
