29. Besides being the eternal age of my beloved Zengirl (yes, we’ve agreed that she can perpetually remain 29 regardless of what the rest of the world or her driver’s license states), it is also a signal that we are close to the end of our little experiment in awareness and consciousness. One more day after today.
And we can all learn something from Zengirl’s refusal to be older than 29. It really is all in our heads. What we make it mean. I don’t know what being “30” means to Zengirl. “30” can mean a lot of things. It’s one of those interesting birthdays. For some folks it’s the passageway out of childhood. “30” is old. “30” is serious. What have you done? What have you accomplished? What is the “course” your life is on? Yeah, thirty can be heavy. But whatever “30” is, it’s really all in your mind. “30” is what you make it mean. And you have a choice of what you make “30” and every other word or event in your life mean.
And that’s one of the points, perhaps the main point of our little experiment in awareness. To become aware of the meanings, the conversations and the automatic thinking that words or events or people cause us to have. This isn’t saying that automatic thinking is bad, on the contrary, it can be quite helpful in many cases. But it can also be quite limiting and be instrumental in keeping you from manifesting and creating the life you want to live.
Words and their meanings, along with the conversations we have in our heads create and reinforce our belief system, or system of beliefs. And what we truly believe possible is exactly what we will have be possible in our lives. The meanings we give to words, and thus, the power over our reality we give those words, is the basis for what is possible. This little experiment is about gaining awareness of that and thus, becoming conscious of our automatic conversations. It’s about empowering ourselves to create the world, the life we want.
