Well now, I got to confess that one of the things that attracted me to marijuana in the first place is the ritual, the paraphernalia, the language of the culture. It’s the same things that draws me to the world of tea. And that’s slightly ironic since “tea” is just one of the many, many words used to describe this wonderful slice of Mother Nature. And there are so, so many words used in the culture of marijuana.
When I created these new pieces based on photographs of marijuana plants, some really amazing things appeared. Least of which is a very, very human face. To me it looks like a painting or a drawing of a Hindu God. Could be the colors, or the styling of it. The fact that it occurred totally in randomness, in the co-creative vapor of pure chance is quite astonishing. And yes, it really did appear by total accident. It is the most “human” face to appear yet in the work, either with plants and flowers or the spray blasted work. What does that mean? I don’t know. It’s randomness.
The work with plants of all types has and continues to be a rewarding exploration. It opens the doors to lots of things. I’d love to see these projected and illuminated on walls, ceilings and floors as part of a light show or exhibit. Be cool to see that. And video is coming closer to The Square. Soon, soon, soon…
But for now, let’s just take in this high frequency vibrational, chakra aligning* marijuana art, shall we?
Here’s “KushDank, The Hindu God of Bongs”…
See what I mean? The colors are just exploding. A lot of chakra vibration color going on with this one. But it’s that face that is just the thing that blows my mind.
Here’s something similar, based off of a slightly different section of the original photograph.
And our last piece from the recent session, “Boom Stick Serenade”…
Like an Aztec/Mayan meets Celtic Cross re-imagined by peyote soaked tribal aliens. Intensely vibrational. The sage is the rage.
And a special thank you to the Governor of Illinois for signing the bill that legalized medical marijuana. Twenty states down. Thirty to go.
And here’s a Kush Dank tee-shirt at our friends… digital peyote.com
• In regards to aligning your chakras, the staff here at The Square make no substantiated claims as to either the use of psychedelic substances or marijuana or our art as being able to assist you in healing, opening or aligning your chakras. But we think, based on some explorations of our own, that they all may help do just that. Should you be one who is working on such things, please tell us your findings.
Yours in perpetual creativity and fun,
P.S. Zengirl is the funnest girl in the world. To me.
